So, this is the 3rd one I’ve purchased. I want to start with a positive because I do genuinely like this mirror and the whole idea behind it, keeping it off the handlebars. My favorite mirror, which is one of the main reasons that’s convinced me to purchase 3 at this point. The only complaint I have with it stems from where the first 2 went. Both broke off in the same place and are somewhere on the side of the interstate. I don’t want to put full blame on prism/materials used because I don’t KNOW that to be the issue. I’m aware it could come from excessive vibration on the trees/forks from something else, and I’ve also been concerned that I tightened the lock nut down too tight possibly causing stress cracks that potentially led to failure. I’m not certain at all so I’m just speaking on what happened to them really. But both broke off about 3/8” out past the lock nut at the stem that the mirror itself mounts to. On this last purchase, I used loctite on the lock nut and didn’t crank down on the nut itself to see if that could potentially be the cause. I don’t want to put blame on anyone/thing in particular with the lack of knowledge I have on it but I have myself considered just machining my own stem out of a harder material and mounting the mirror to that, in case it is just simply something going on with the bike rather than the part itself. Kind of a “make it withstand more than it’s intended to in the first place” kind of deal. Insurance if you will. That is my only complaint thus far. And still take that with a grain of salt, because if the product wasn’t absolutely rad and exactly what I want aesthetically I would have bought 3 now at this point.
