It pressed on pretty easy using a bench vise. Bolts up really fucking solid to the intake manifold. This is the only way that you should be mounting a cv carb to a Shovelhead.
This is just what I needed to run a CV40 on my shovelhead.
Works great. I installed this with a little loctite, to help seal any possible leaks. I replaced a rubber adapter which ended up tearing and almost left me stranded. Very solid mounting and no further support needed to keep the carb from coming off the bike.
While this machined adapter is very precise, the aluminum casting on my stock cv is not. Be sure to check where these two pieces mate together for air leaks. To remedy this I just used loctite to fill in the gaps between the adapter and the carb. I’ve been chasing a lean condition and an erratic idle that I wasn’t able to tune out and this pretty much fixed it. If you’re thinking about switching to a cv carb on your shovel, this is the best way to do it! Thanks Prism!
It would be nice if the thread size and other specifications was mentioned for this part. It has two 5/16-18 threaded holes that I drilled out and tapped to 3/8-16 threads into so that I could bolt this to a manifold that is for a Super E. I then beveled the manifold side of the adapter port edge with a radius before pressing on the adapter so that the air flow had a smoother transition into the manifold.
Overall this is a great part for an underrated carb.
