Just got my pull twist choke cable and carburetor mounting bracket with choke cable mount.
I run a Mikuni HSR 42 with adapter to run stock style air cleaner and not a stock CV carb. The choke cable is the same for both carburetors, Mikuni has you re use your stock CV choke cable. The problem I ran in to is the choke cable is not long enough to rotate under and around the bigger Mikuni to the choke cable mount on the carburetor mounting bracket.
I ended up just mounting it on the left side stock choke cable bracket.
The cable works great and has two positions full on and 3/4 on.
I would suggest knurling on the on the pull nob to make it little easier on old timers (I'm 67) and an optional 2" longer cable for use with the Mikuni HSR 42 and combination carburetor/choke mounting bracket.
Over all happy with the choke cable.
So yeah, I love it! The construction is solid as a rock. Beats the broken OG piece of shit cable that needed to be replaced 6 years ago.. Definitely feels like a quality product. An for the cost it better be!
The knob is almost to pretty for my semi shit box of a Sportster. The cable is of perfect length and connects perfectly to the carbs choke plunger….. An the lock out knob was the best upgrade…!
…..Here’s the “but” …..
The cost! OUCH! My wallet cried a little bit when I hit that pay button. Yet I knew it was quality product from previous purchases. And I’m proud to support the guys at Prism. I’m down for what they add to chopper/vintage scene.
I’m a big fan of products that fix pain points, and these guys fixed an annoying one on CV carbed Harleys. The stock plastic remote cv choke sucks ass on Harleys; failure prone, tough to adjust, feels cheap. The Prism solution is anything but those things. Feels premium, impossible to fail, looks great. I can confirm that you can use the stock mounting location on the left side of the 91-03 Sportster with this kit. I have two points of feedback as potential improvements for this choke, some of which echo other reviews; 1) it really should have a 1/2 setting. It would be pretty straightforward to machine a second detent in, and would give the user a lot more flexibility. 2). A little fine tuning adjustment would be nice. When I installed this unit, it didn’t “snap” back into place on release, there was about 1/8” of free play that was the direct result of the cable being about 1/8” too long. I was able to fix this by shimming the choke body away from the cable with a slotted piece of ABS plastic. While this was no big deal, it would be nice if there was a bit of adjustability built in for cable tension. Overall a great product and easily the best on the market, but with a little room for improvement on v2.
Stripped out my old choke cable because the nut and thread were plastic.. prisms is badass like all their parts. Just buy the best one time and be done
